An Animation Technical Director (Animation TD) in the VFX industry plays a vital and multifaceted role that bridges the gap between the artistic and technical sides of animation production. They focus on streamlining workflows, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring smooth integration of tools and assets, all while enabling the animation team to focus on their creative work.

In this vital role, you'll be entrusted with streamlining workflows and resolving those pesky technical challenges that can arise during production. You'll act as a supportive force for our talented animators, providing real-time assistance and helping them overcome software or workflow hurdles. Collaboration is key as you work closely with rigging, simulation, and lighting teams to ensure that assets are delivered consistently and function as intended. The Animation Director and other departments will lean on your communication skills as you navigate technical needs and deliver effective solutions, while also troubleshooting issues to prevent them from affecting project deadlines. Your experience in animation workflows and production pipelines, ideally with over five years in a technical role, will be invaluable here. With a strong background in Maya and familiarity with rigging and character dynamics, you'd be perfectly suited to develop and implement innovative rigging and deformation solutions.
