The Role
The Luxury Editor is responsible for producing interiors, art, watches, jewellery and accessories stories for Vogue’s print edition and all digital platforms. The role reports into the European Deputy Editor in order to produce stories and identify content appropriate for British Vogue and markets across Europe and beyond. The ideal candidate will be well connected in the luxury market and, covering such a key sector, will play an important role in helping shape Vogue’s voice. This is a part time position - working 3 days per week.
What will you be doing?
Writing and editing stories on the subjects of interiors, art, watches, jewellery and accessories for Vogue’s digital platforms, from daily news hits to larger features and exclusives
Writing and editing stories on the subjects of interiors, art, watches, jewellery and accessories, primarily for British Vogue’s print edition but also stories that could be developed for our European editions (France, Spain, Italy, Germany)
Helping the European Deputy Editor by collaborating and liaising with colleagues across the European markets to ensure story balance and output of Luxury coverage remains consistent and that we avoid duplication
Understanding and building commercial relationships, working with the revenue teams on special projects whenever necessary
Meeting with brands and PRs, and feeding back to the team to build relationships, secure editorial exclusives and ensure that Vogue remains at the forefront of the luxury market
Liaising with the commercial team to develop special Vogue projects within the sector.
Staying abreast of any and all industry developments and news to ensure that our coverage across print and digital is both informed and unique
Who you are:
5+ years of experience in an editorial role covering the luxury market, writing copy for both print and digital
A flair for storytelling and a proven track record of identifying trends and topics to cover - and the best way in which to write and engage with our audience
Highly skilled at building stories and editing at speed within a CMS
An understanding of the importance of SEO in journalism, and how to use it effectively in everything from body copy to headlines
An entrepreneurial mind-set, with a focus on new opportunities for stories and areas for audience growth
Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across myriad departments and differing levels of seniority
Experience and passion for developing and coaching junior team members.
A thorough understanding of the Vogue brand and Condé Nast
Experience of working closely with business teams to identify and collaborate on revenue-generating projects, whether commercial or consumer
