Technical Lead - UI Engineering (Remote)

We’re seeking a hands on, technically deep UI Engineering, Tech Lead to join our team! As a Tech Lead, you'll own UI development initiatives and lead a nimble team of front end engineers, mentor to excellence, and establish best practices to deliver quality software on time.

The ideal candidate has a range of skills across web application programming, technical leadership and people leadership. You get excited by developing user-centric and performant UI platforms. You have experience in mentoring developers through career development and performance growth opportunities. You are structured in managing deliverables and dependencies through cross-functional communications and project management. While you are not an individual contributor developer, you are very adept at doing PR reviews, going deep into the code structure, have experience with flexible UI frameworks, and drive technical best practices. You like rolling up your sleeves and being hands on, diving into coding and staying in touch with the everyday challenges of your team. You challenge the team on using tools that scale velocity, including influencing automating testing and AI code generation.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development and release of production solutions to achieve a delightful and intuitive user experience

  • Manage and grow a team of front end developers who own UX for Machinify’s products.

  • Develop plans and track production features for on-time quality releases.

  • Understand with data what slows your team down, and develop phased plans to reduce pain points and increase velocity.

  • Lead the application development, UX development, and middle layer development (BFF)

  • Own projects aligned with our product development strategy

  • Influence the direction of the underlying platform to ensure it is extensible, scalable, and secure

  • Measure impact through metrics

  • Collaborate with team and external stakeholders such as Product Managers, Backend Engineers, UX team, & our customers

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years managing a team of developers

  • 8+ years of production application development experience

  • Experience hiring, growing careers and managing performance for a team of front end developers.

  • Proficiency in modern Javascript, React, CSS/HTML and familiarity with TypeScript

  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, Rust, Rails, Java, Go)

  • Proficiency working with and integrating web API’s or micro-services

  • Experience reading and understanding complex enterprise-grade code and ability to suggest improvements.

  • Excellent debugging skills (using dev tools source code, emphasis in identifying root cause, and proactively preventing future bugs) and being able to guide team members.

  • Experience implementing best practices of incorporating AI into user flows

  • Familiarity with standard development tools and processes like Github Workflows, Git, JIRA

  • Experience creating and building systems in production with over 10k+ users

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and taking the initiative

  • BS or MS in Computer science (or equivalent experience)

The salary for this position is based on an array of factors unique to each candidate: Such as years and depth of experience, set skills, certifications, etc. The base salary range for this role is $210k-250k. Our Recruiting team will let you know if you qualify for a different role/range. Salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes meaningful equity, excellent healthcare, flexible time off, and other benefits and perks.
