SUMMER 2024 INTERNSHIP

Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces – including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood – to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores – with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo – are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand’s DNA. The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.

About the program

We are looking to hire a class of interns during Summer 2024 for Madhappy. The program will begin June 3rd, 2024 and end August 9th, 2024. These dates may be adjusted as the summer approaches, and are flexible depending on needs (school ending or beginning).

The internship program will have openings across our various teams, each with differing responsibilities and roles. Regardless of specific team, all interns will get to experience working on the broader Madhappy team, learn how we run the business, and help us along our journey to make the world a more optimistic place.

While this internship is open to all ages and experiences, we will have preference for those who may be able to join the team full time in the near future.

Please note: we are only accepting applicants who would be able to join us in-person at our offices in Los Angeles for the duration of the internship program.

Business Operations

Our business operations intern will get to work cross-functionally across many teams and mediums. This role will work directly with the team director to manage team meetings, people operations, sales reporting, and on key strategic initiatives (such as expanding different business segments and building company-wide training materials).

Design

You will work alongside the entire design team to gain invaluable experience about the design process to bring the best products to life at Madhappy. This role will assist in placing designs, creating techpacks, conduct product research, update lineplans, and more. Adobe Illustrator experience is a must.

Operations

The operations intern will support our product movement and logistics in various settings: store openings/closings, replenishments, finished goods delivery, warehouse movements, and more. The role will support Customer Care, Operations, and our Retail teams.

Graphic Design

Our graphic design intern will work with both the Design and Marketing teams.  Working directly with the graphic design team, responsibilities will range from product design to marketing collateral and everything between. 

Product Development / Production

You will be responsible for being the connection between our vendors + the production team, as well as have a direct hand in creating the products that make up the Madhappy brand. You will learn the full life cycle of a product from concept, sourcing, developing techniques such as dyeing, print, and embroideries, garment sewing, to the finished product. This position requires traveling to and growing relationships with our vendors around LA.

Marketing

Our Marketing Intern will work across our Brand & Growth Marketing teams in addition to working tangentially to our Content team. This role will work directly with the Marketing and Content leads to ideate around gifting strategies, brainstorm for upcoming campaigns, support on-site at brand activations & events, and execute on the concept for all major initiatives across Madhappy & The Local Optimist.

Customer Care

Our Customer Care Intern will work directly with our CX team on all customer interactions and processes. This role will include answering inbound emails and Instagram DMs, learning the ins and outs of the Madhappy brand voice and product, processing returns, and organizing in-office inventory. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the brand and work directly with the Madhappy community!

eCommerce

Our eCommerce intern will get to work cross-functionally across many teams and mediums. This role will work directly with the eCommerce & Social Media manager to manage inventory, product creation / imports, and Shopify site management.

$17.50/hour
