Position Summary As a Maintenance Engineer Trainee, you will be trained in and assist in the execution of efficient operations within the field-based maintenance facility. The Trainee will assist and contribute to Lean projects that improve the processes, guidelines, and best practices for the shop. Also, the Trainee will learn and contribute to NexTier’s business systems and ensure that all data is captured as per those processes. Key Accountabilities • Support the local Maintenance Manager with managing and leading the shop personnel.
This could include covering while the person is out. • Reviews test pit data to ensure units are being properly tested and helps improve test pit processes • Supports root cause analysis for failures in the field and executing the action plans to resolve the failures • Runs Lean Projects to facilitate improvements in the local shop • Supports special projects in the district from the Equipment Health Maintenance department Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • A firm understanding of hydraulics, mechanical power, and chemistry. • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office applications, Excel, MS Word, etc... • Ability to learn and become an SME on Maintenance business systems Basic understanding of Lean Initiatives with the ability to become Lean Certified • Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
Multitasking, interpersonal communication and attention to detail are all required skills. • Assist the District Maintenance Manager with daily tasks such as inventory, costs, logistics, and forecasting. • Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and HSE Managers • Support the Root Cause Analysis process • Support efforts such as RCM analysis, and PM Optimization to identify the best maintenance tactic for assets • Gathers and examines basic reliability data from field studies or databases and correlates the data for analysis using well-defined engineering techniques, principles, and procedures • Gathers and examines basic maintainability problem data from field studies or databases and merges data into well-defined repair techniques, principles and procedures. • Develop initiatives, and improvement plans to improve asset utilization, and reliability to improve the overall TCO.
- Identify, implement, and drive Lean/continuous improvement efforts that improve asset availability/utilization through reducing asset quantities waiting for maintenance, down for parts, down for failure, and work-in-process. • Identify new opportunities and develop business cases for projects pertaining to rework/reuse of parts, service level kits, and equipment design improvements. • Support and participate in failure investigations to identify and eliminate root causes within location and with the reliability team, sustaining and engineering. • Implement RCM to improve the quality and frequency of maintenance task/service levels.
Identify, implement, and drive projects to improve TCO within the location. Required Experience and Education • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required
