Maintenance Tech I
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To assist Maintenance personnel in building and equipment repairs.
- Assist in maintaining tool room operation as assigned.
- Pick up and delivery of materials., Inspection and preparation of university vans.
- Assist technicians with building and equipment repairs.
- Cleaning of mechanical rooms and maintenance building or other as assigned by manager.
- Assist in emergency and after hour repairs as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver's license and will be required to drive for Belmont business.
- Minimal knowledge of building maintenance.
- Demonstrates the ability to read and write in order to follow written direction and instruction.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with hands and work in labor intensive situations following instruction of the maintenance manager.
- Ability to work from pencil sketches and diagrams Skill and care in the use of University vehicles and tools.
- Knowledge of safety hazards involved in lifting and general labor practices.
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience: 1-2 years experience in a building or mechanical trade preferred.
Maintenance Tech II
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide basic daily maintenance for University buildings and equipment.
- Performs basic maintenance/repairs in all fields. Includes electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry repairs involving bulb replacement, switch/outlet repair, filter replacement, unclogging plumbing fixtures, repairs to doors, windows, and roofs.
- Interprets scope of work assigned, time involved, materials needed, orders and picks up materials.
- Performs clean up and material return from job location, maintains tools used and returns tools to shop at end of each day.
- Interprets basic mechanical meters and properly operates electrical machinery within crafts. Involves operation and understanding of volt/ohm meters, thermostats, thermometers, pressure gauges, plumbing cables, table saws, drill press and etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections, makes necessary repairs, and completes paperwork of such preventative maintenance in a timely manner.
- Assist in emergency and after hour repairs as needed.
- Contacts vendors to obtain price or other information and to follow-up on delivery dates, late deliveries, shortages and/or overages; ensures action is taken to correct problem(s).
- Maintains a variety of records, such as inventory costs, prices, quantity on hand or damaged stock; provides reports to supervisor when needed.
- Stores materials, supplies, or equipment according to weight, temperature, size, safety or other requirements; marks stock items and/or shelves or bins with identifying codes, letters or symbols.
- Reviews stock/inventory and uses specialized knowledge of goods to estimate needs and appropriate quantities of standard and special order items; recommends and implements additions or deletions to standard stock items.
- Knowledge of the materials, supplies, and equipment located in a maintenance stock room.

Required Qualifications:

- Skill in the care and use of the tools and equipment used in the trades involved.
- Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
- Ability to supervise a group of semi or non-skilled workers.
- Ability to work from pencil sketches and diagrams.
- Must supply his/her own hand tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and write in order to follow written instruction.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with hands and work in mechanically oriented situations following instructions of the maintenance manager.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry required.
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: Three years minimum experience in a maintenance or equivalent trade.
