Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois to receive day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer. Performs a variety of manual semi-skilled labor in the maintenance and improvement of grounds, roadways, and parking lot at Chicago-Read Mental Health Center. Moves furniture, equipment, and other articles within the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center. Performs clean-up duties throughout the campus. Removes and disposes of leaves and trash from Chicago-Reach Mental Health Center campus. Plants Flowers and grass seed. Maintains equipment. Participates in all Department of Human Services (DHS) and Chicago-Read Mental Health Center mandatory training.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receives day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer of the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, and other articles within the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center.
  • Performs clean-up duties throughout the campus.
  • Removes and disposes of leaves and trash from Chicago-Reach Mental Health Center campus.
  • Plants Flowers and grass seed.
  • Maintains equipment.
  • Participates in all Department of Human Services (DHS) and Chicago-Read Mental Health Center mandatory training.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires no formal education.
  • Requires six (6) months experience performing a variety of semiskilled manual tasks in the maintenance of highways, buildings, grounds, waterways or in related fields.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
