The Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Manager (“Manager”) leads a team of Consultants to perform unclaimed property reviews designed to ensure compliance with State Unclaimed Property Laws. The Manager maintains existing client relationships and focuses on the overall administration of client projects. This includes researching abandoned property issues, reviewing unclaimed property reports, analyzing general ledger data and banking records, performing audit defense services or VDA Advocacy and developing recommendations for clients based on industry practices.

Duties and responsibilities:

Manage complex state abandoned property projects, including audit defense, managed audits, voluntary disclosure advocacy and risk assessments.

Develop client workplans and schedules associated project deliverables.

Lead client project status calls via web conference.

Prepare and conduct client presentations.

Develop new business and expands business with existing clients.

Travel to client locations to gather and analyze payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable support and other documentation to use in the audit defense, abandoned property reporting or asset recovery process.

Review and reconcile client data downloads and identifies unclaimed property issues to research.

Negotiate abandoned property resolutions with state agencies.

Respond to client inquiries and requests from state agencies.

Help train and mentor Consultants and other team members at various levels.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting and/or Finance

Four to six years financial audit or abandoned property related experience.

Experience in a consulting environment is a plus.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Abandoned and Unclaimed Property practice, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm’s policies and applicable laws.

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $122,400-$149,600. The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for positions is $128,250-$156,750. The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring is dependent on geographical location. There are first range is $128,250-$156,750, the second range is $139,950-$171,050. The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience.
