Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Manager of Customer Support to bring their leadership and Aftermarket expertise to our team of diverse, professional problem solvers in our Airborne Power Control (APC) Group in Kirkland, WA.

Overview and Background

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is a division of Astronics Corporation (ATRO). AES is an industry leader in aircraft electrical power systems, including generation and distribution. Our markets include commercial transport (Boeing and Airbus), business jets, helicopters, eVTOLs and military platforms. We are the world leader in in-seat power for laptops and other devices with our EmPower® product line. We are also the world’s leading innovator of electronic circuit breakers and power distribution systems for small to medium sized aircraft with our CorePower® product line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The overriding business objective for the Manager of Customer Support will be to provide effective leadership to the Production Program Management and Customer Support teams for the Airborne Power and Control (APC) product group to introduce and expand aftermarket services. The successful candidate will be a positive and inspirational leader that will grow a team of technical professionals, establish and enforce best practices and provide outstanding internal and external customer support. S/he will help to grow the business with strategic planning, expansion of value-add support services, contract renewals and customer interface when needed. The manager will be a good cultural fit with the company.

The key performance objectives for this position are to lead the team to perform the following:

  • High Performance Organization: Develop and support a highly professional team to manage the growing APC production, customer support and aftermarket activities. Set clear expectations, provide resources, encourage, acknowledge feedback, and act on that feedback. Reinforce actions that accomplish expectations, eliminate wasted activity, and build and enhance cooperation with other parts of the organization.
  • Customer Support: Expand our reputation of aircraft power systems by building outstanding customer relationships, being a customer advocate, and growing our support infrastructure with the revenue growth to build customer required services. Support customers worldwide and be a primary customer focal point for production and field support. Support internal customers (operations, quality, and supply chain) with engineering support and cross-functional leadership as required.
  • Aftermarket Business Opportunities: Serve as a primary strategic focal point for Aftermarket Services covering a range of products and customers. Identify and generate value add services related to aircraft spares, modernization & upgrade (retrofit) programs, and repair & overhaul opportunities. Create business plans, a catalog and pricing to provide Aftermarket services. Coordinate business proposals with Sales lead on new production programs and modifications to existing programs.
  • Manage Growth and Profitability: Manage growth by leading new products out of development and into serial production. Expand profit margins by managing and reducing cost, coordinating with supply chain and operations, and looking for areas of waste elimination. Identify and implement aftermarket services that provide value to our customers and a profitable revenue source to Astronics. Lead the team in negotiation of new and follow-on support contracts with key aircraft OEM’s. The expectation is that the leader of this organization will think of the business as their own, and act accordingly.
  • Administration: With the support of the team, successfully maintain a rhythm and systematic completion of a range of administrative tasks required for the business. Examples include managing parts obsolescence, tracking corrective action closures, supporting supply chain work transfers, and root cause and corrective action on field failures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • Leadership in production programs and/or customer experience
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in aerospace, engineering, and/or field service
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, industry practices, company products, technology, regulations, service capabilities and policies related to marketing and business development for airline, military or OEM and aftermarket customers.

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

Salary range is $122,003 - $183,004 per year. Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
