Our marketing, business development and communications team contributes to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. This includes a structured and rigorous approach towards managing the firm’s relationships with our key, global strategic clients via our global Client Relationship Management (“CRM”) team.
Role purpose
Working alongside the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer – Americas (“CMBDO”), SMCRM and our US Practice Group leaders, this position will play a key role in the support of our CRM and sector-based marketing and business development strategies with a particular focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Job description
Context
Allen & Overy’s global Marketing, Business Development and Communications team contributes to the setting and achievement of the firm’s strategic business objectives. This includes a structured and rigorous approach towards managing the firm’s relationships with our key, global strategic clients via our global CRM team, in conjunction with the relevant Global Relationship Partners.
Role and responsibilities
- Identify, manage and maximize external partnerships that contribute to strategic DEI-driven BD goals.
- Raise A&O’s profile amongst key influencers working with US and global social media team.
- Work with the senior BD/CRM managers and the firm’s DEI team to set ambitious programmatic goals
- Research, assess and pursue a desired subset of companies to include, but not be limited to, US-based late-stage private and likely IPO candidates, high growth companies and cross-selling of existing global clients.
- Present focus as a strategic business partner to successfully lead teams to drive DEI of clients
- In collaboration with senior business development manager & DEI team
- Produce/ edit content for DEI/BD pitch materials
- Manage portfolio of key clients critical to the growing priority sectors in the U.S.

Key requirements
- Graduate (or equivalent) with relevant marketing qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of the financial services sector an advantage, but not necessary. Interest in developing sector knowledge is important.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Business analysis and desk research experience.
- Creative thinker.
- Experience of change management.
- Client relationship management and DEI experience in a large professional services organization.
- Self-motivated
- High attention to detail.
- Strong customer service focus.
- An understanding of Panel Tenders and pitching recommendable.
For individuals assigned to or hired for this opportunity in New York, the estimated annualized base salary range for this position is $160,000-$190,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, including, if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job, and other job-relation factors permitted by law.
