JOB TITLE: Manager – Data Science

DEPARTMENT: Business Intelligence

REPORTS TO: AVP- Business Intelligence

LOCATION: NOC, Saint Petersburg, FL

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager – Data Science is a hybrid role that supports multiple functional areas by developing scalable tools to automate business operations and reporting, write clean and organized code and documentation to streamline workflow. You will blend data mining, database development, analytics, and data visualizations to build solutions that will result in improvements to the way we do business.

This role requires expertise in data quality and data lifecycle management processes to bridge tech capabilities and business needs. Should possess the ability to prioritize data analytics needs and ensure feasibility with Tech and Governance teams.

Should possess experience leading cross-functional projects and the ability to work closely with Senior Management to clarify and interpret both broad and granular data.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire data by building queries and pipelines to data warehouses (on-premises and cloud).
  • Create and maintain routine Data Health checks to ensure superior Data integrity needed to facilitate smooth exchanges of information across multiple software platforms.
  • Analyze, audit, and modify data to assure data quality.
  • Create and manage reporting and analysis of commercial sales data for all levels of the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales and Operations teams to deliver business-building objectives.
  • Determine and identify market potential and market degradation; provide Senior Management with alerts, recommendations and/or creative problem solving.
  • Conduct research to provide competitive data and analyze those findings to help SalonCentric maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Provide training to Sales and Marketing teams on new, enhanced, and existing reporting tools.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop any direct report, including career development planning and opportunities.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by management including BI cube maintenance/development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Business/Management/Information Systems and/or 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to develop reports, tools, and data infrastructures to support data analysis and initiatives.
  • Proficiency with managing database engines, data modeling, and visualizations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications with an emphasis on Excel, Access, Power BI (Data Tables and Data Sets), Power Query, and Power Pivot; Proficient and comfort with technology and addressing troubleshooting routine technological issues.
  • Proficient in data management/querying languages such as SQL, DAX, MDX, and Power Query.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • High-level knowledge of sales and business processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation ability.
  • through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM (Instant Messaging), and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Strong business acumen, management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism and sound judgment in dealing with senior managers; effectively builds relationships and resources at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly proactive; takes initiative to begin and complete projects; masterful at follow-up and tracking work projects; anticipates and executes tasks before being asked.
  • Ability to adapt schedule to accommodate necessary deadlines and ad hoc reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a hi-tempo environment managing and effectively prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Some reasonable travel is required (10%), including overnight and weekends.
  • Capacity to understand and follow fair trade and confidentiality policies applicable to data compilation and reporting within SalonCentric.
