Job Description
The Digital Advertising Operations (AdOps) team at The Washington Post has two distinct missions. The first is to be subject matter experts in the processes and systems required for ad delivery. The second is the successful delivery of those ads for revenue recognition. AdOps is responsible for ad trafficking in proprietary and 3rd party systems. As a result, we interact with multiple teams across editorial and commercial with a depth of knowledge on the digital advertising ecosystem. We are looking for a seasoned Manager, Digital Advertising Operations to lead a team of AdOps specialists tasked with building and trafficking custom creatives and testing/validating new initiatives. This leader will help define and advocate the standards for the team. Successful candidates have a strong understanding of the complexities of digital ad ops. This role reports into the Director, Digital Advertising Operations.

Responsibilities

Guide the development of the AdOps & QA Specialists by providing opportunities that challenge and grow the team’s breadth and depth of ad technology knowledge and capabilities

Identify solutions to simplify tasks, improve speed, and increase efficiency across the team by analyzing productivity data to inform decisions

Operationalize evergreen and sponsorship opportunities for ease of packaging and execution by educating stakeholders on operational insights needed for successful ad delivery across multiple platforms

Involve the ad ops team in testing new site projects and integrations by attending engineering and product roadmap meetings, developing, and leading testing plans around updates, and documenting any procedural or policy changes that result from implementations

Collaborate with Product Marketing, Editorial, Pricing, Account Management and Product on cross-functional tasks to execute revenue generating programs/products

Evangelize documentation for cross-departmental use by keeping reference materials up to date.

Maximize the value of external tools and systems by managing the relationships with various ad tech providers (IAS, GAM, etc.)
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
-
8+ years of digital experience

3+ years of managerial experience – leading and managing direct reports

Expert knowledge of Google Ad Manager and DCM

Experience trafficking digital ads across web, app, video, audio, newsletter, and programmatic environments

Experience building custom ads using raw assets

Highly organized

Strong communicator interacting with various levels of management

Vendor management experience

Knowledge of Jira, Asana, or similar project management/ticketing systems

The Washington Post includes salary ranges for certain positions to comply with local pay transparency laws. The salary range for this position is:
$102,500.00 - $170,800.00
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
