Department:

Global Strategy provides a critical foundation to drive client business by taking insights, data, and media rigor to create a strategic framework. That framework is crafted for optimal results – reaching the right audiences, with the right channels, in the right moments & mindsets. Cascaded to markets around the world, it provides the north star and cohesion for brands to have consistency in strategy and execution.

Overview:

Role Responsibilities

Powerful data & insights represent the connective tissue between brands’ business goals/challenges and the media strategy the agency recommends addressing those goals/challenges. This role translates objectives into a compelling and impactful media strategy (built upon data and insights) designed to deliver results. Specifically, there are 3 main areas of focus for this person who is curious and a self-starter: 1) Mining Category, Brand, and Audience Insights to develop meaningful, different, and salient approaches. 2) Communication between local markets and global team to ensure global strategy and ideas reflect local inputs and can be executable, 3) Bringing creativity, media rigor and ideation to the forefront so showcase how the Strategy comes to life.

Overall
  • Strong business acumen on understanding a clients goals/ambitions and then determining impactful strategies to achieve those goals
  • Expert in the changing media landscape; knowledge of Digital, Social Platforms and Commerce
  • Experience in working with different markets and Global/Local relationships

Data Expertise
  • Mine Insights: Mine trends and insights across culture, category, consumer and competitive to guide actionable communications strategies
  • Audience Expertise: define and prioritize target audiences; utilize audience tools and research to analyze media consumption, passion points, channel preferences; beyond the qualitative garner a strong understanding of the motivations and mindsets of consumers.
  • Storytelling: Translate insights, trends, and data into compelling media-centric storytelling

Global to Local Connectivity
  • Cascade and Collaboration: have frequent check-ins with local Mindshare teams on competitive intel, local market execution and partner updates; partner with Global hubs on strategy and ideas
  • Thought Leadership and Inspiration: support Thought Leadership in partnership with the wider Global Strategy team that can be cascaded to Media and Brand teams and Mindshare teams
  • Operational Excellence: work with UL Media on Process, Timelines and look for ways to constantly improve ways of working

Disruption (Strategy and Ideas)
  • Disruptive Ideation: Tap into broader universe of media, content, commerce, and technology partners to stay on the pulse of culture and deliver relevant and timely strategic plans
  • Full-Funnel: Design full funnel strategy and solutions as part of Global Strategy; team up with Centers of Excellence to bolster thinking and expertise

People
  • Data/Insight Connector: become a resource in the Data/Audience/Insights space and transfer knowledge among the team
  • Foster Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (local media teams, global Unilever-Mindshare network) across the planning process
  • Support: Work lockstep with Directors across lines of business; organize internal meetings and collate client status; point person for monthly/quarterly deliverables (i.e. competitive)

The ideal candidate will have:


  • 4+ years of experience in a Comms Planning, Media Planning, or relevant role; experience on Global business is a plus
  • Strategic prowess: support in Strategy development with ability to craft media rigor and creativity
  • Ability to support end-to-end planning process
    • Analyzing the brief
    • Owning Research & Audience Analysis
    • Ability to find patterns and unique insight from data; tell compelling stories
    • Experience with Full-funnel and Customer Journey frameworks
    • Partner with local markets to cascade Strategies/Ideas
  • Knowledge of Research and Insights tools (syndicated survey data, social listening, industry and category reports, audience planning tools)
  • Proven impact on clients’ business and marketing decisions
  • A track record of critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong client relationship-development skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a multitude of stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, both written and spoken
  • Passion for people/our consumers – what makes them tick, their culture & experiences and figuring out how media can be most impactful/relevant; keen eye for a Global perspective
  • Obsession for media, pop culture, technology, and innovation
