Job Description:
Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We’re actively seeking a talented Manager of Digital Product Ownership to join our Digital Execution & Marketing Analytic team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.
As the Manager of Digital Product Ownership, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by leading the development and delivery of various digital capabilities derived from the broader marketing technology stack. This individual will ensure digital product enhancements satisfy business/information requirements as part of this team’s broader responsibility for organizing, prioritizing, and assessing work that will be undertaken by individual scrum teams. This role will also support CMD’s burgeoning digital transformation efforts (i.e., SMOM) and broader enterprise-led Customer Experience (CX) efforts, including partnering closely with business stakeholders, data scientists and engineers, and other digital SMEs, focusing on projects of significant scope and complexity.
How you will make an impact:
DELIVER A MARKETING CAPABILITIES ROADMAP - This role will partner with various business stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify, align, and prioritize feature requests and enhancements to enable the delivery of a marketing capabilities roadmap. That roadmap will be socialized with executive leadership, and will be subjected to ongoing refinement to ensure alignment with CMD’s overarching distribution strategy (20%)
TRANSLATE BUSINESS/STAKEHOLDER NEEDS – This position will also collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges they seek to overcome, including identifying specific business requirements or wants, as well as confirming success criteria. They will rationalize and translate this high-level insight into a product strategy to help scrum leaders more effectively perform several of their day-to-day tactical functions, including breaking product management’s epics into user stories, arranging and prioritizing sprints, evaluating progress at each stage of development, and answering eventual dev questions about the reasoning for user stories or tasks. (30%)
ACT AS A LAISON – This role will also ensure user stories and tasking reflected in the sprint backlog remain well-aligned with the big-picture goals and objectives articulated by the business. This leadership role will leverage their domain knowledge and business acumen to ensure sprint alignment between the business, the respective scrum leader, and the development team charged with the actual build-out of targeted features and capabilities. (30%)
TEAM LEADERSHIP & TRACKING OF INDUSTRY TRENDS – This position will actively lead a team of scrum leaders and will also be charged with the monitoring and tracking of market trends and innovation. (20%)
The experience you will bring:
5-8 years of professional marketing experience, including significant domain knowledge within the insurance sector
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field of study
Demonstrated, hands-on experience managing various stages of the digital product life cycle, particularly as it relates to web properties
Strong technical background with specific knowledge of more common elements of a marketing technology stack (e.g., web technologies, SFMC, CRM, event planning, sales enablement tools, etc.)
Exceptional problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions with minimal guidance
Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated success working in highly matrixed organizations
Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
This role works independently, with minimal guidance in only the most complex circumstances, and will lead cross-functional working groups. Furthermore, the role solves unique and/or complex business problems that have a broad impact on business outcomes, including informing CMD Marketing’s transformation strategy.
