Manager, Production 2nd Shift (Manufacturing)

Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Manager of Production will report to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing and manage daily plant operations on a shift basis. This position will oversee the manufacturing OR packaging of dry powders, teas, and liquids. The Manager will also assist in making recommendations and implementing projects to increase the quality and efficiency of production output.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Provide strong leadership to all subordinates to ensure them a pathway to success.
  • Provide clear feedback to all shifts and departments to ensure efficiency and quality throughout the plant.
  • Submit a daily shift report for all production areas.
  • Work with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity.
  • Establish work practices, operating procedures and work instructions to improve overall performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct continuous follow-up on floor procedures and practices by redirecting when necessary.
  • Attend production meetings and communicates all information accurately.
  • Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure functional objectives are met.
  • Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to further develop and improve staff individually, and as a group.
  • Responsible for establishing clear performance requirements and measuring metrics of personnel.
  • Ensure safety of all personnel, and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Review and inspect equipment and contribute to the safety committee.
  • Facilitate and implement Process Improvement Events
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly manages up to 5 supervisors.
Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to establish strategic partnerships and relationships cross-functionally and across businesses.

  • Good communication and leadership skills; training and follow-up on training.
  • Ability to write, implement, train and ensure compliance to procedures.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and computer applications.
Experience:
  • 5+ years previous demonstrated experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Previous experience in collaborating across multiple departments.
  • Proven track record of results in setting, implementing and achieving business strategies within a manufacturing organization.
  • Must have previous demonstrated experience with safety procedures.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and working within a cGMP environment.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, preferably in a technical field or 4 years additional relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in Food Production or Nutraceutical Production
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Familiarity with Oracle OPM
  • An understanding of the overall Manufacturing and Packaging process for dry powders, teas, and liquids.
