Job Description

Danfoss in Longmont, CO is searching for Manufacturing Engineering Interns to join the team to work part-time during Fall & Spring semesters and full-time during Summer 2024. This internship will work with low and medium manufacturing engineers on projects which will improve quality, productivity, and delivery to improve uptime on the equipment.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Create, develop, maintain, and improve standardized operating procedures for assembly.
  • Perform BOM audits (SAP, PDM, drawings, OLWI)
  • Analyze and perform process time studies.
  • Promote and improve upon levels of 5S on the production floor.
  • Utilize Root Cause Problem Solving tools to resolve issues in the assembly processes.
  • Implement lean initiatives throughout the production process.
  • Install equipment and setup production line (e.g.: Pick2Light System, selective solder, assembly stations).
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and tooling for production requirements.
  • Participate in production Kaizen activities.
  • Assist maintenance and manufacturing engineers with tasks and assignments.

  • Required Qualifications
    • Junior or Senior studying Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree.
    • Ability to do physical work and use mechanical tools for construction or alterations of current equipment.
    • Ability to work 15-20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters and 40+ hours per week during the Summer Semester of 2024.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts used for LEAN processes.
    • Experience using CAD and/or other 3D modeling applications.
    • Experience with, and ability to, provide data analysis for production assembly processes.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
    • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
