Manufacturing Training Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Increases organizational performance using a metrics/data-based approach to identify performance issues and skills/training gaps.
  • Work with leaders to identify and assess training needed to build a manufacturing training strategy in line with our business goals.
  • Review existing training programs; suggest enhancements and modifications to improve engagement, learning, and retention and/or to meet the changing needs of customers, the organization, or the industry.
  • Create curriculum to facilitate training using stage gates for effective learning.
  • Design and deliver training workshops and blended learning tools that enhance the skills and commercial success of our teams.
  • Ensure that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
  • Maintain knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry.
  • Identify problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve.
  • Conduct or facilitates required and recommended training sessions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party training providers to develop or facilitate training as needed.
  • Evaluate trainings effectiveness and measures progress of training participants.
  • Supports continuous improvement.

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Management, Human Resources, Organizational Design, Psychology, or related discipline.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience as a learning and development practitioner.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training by communicating effectively through active listening, direct communication and feedback, and maintaining appropriate balance between providing content and allowing learners to practice.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing training needs, identifying performance gaps and root causes, and recommending solutions to achieve desired performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated technical competence through training and/or experience to provide perspective about prerequisites and adjacent projects/experiences to enhance the learning objectives.
  • Experience in leading matrix project teams and influencing cross functional teams.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to facilitate organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects.
  • Experience coordinating learning and development activities throughout the organization; perform training administrative tasks in a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience leading learning in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Position will primarily report to Sparrows Point location, with travel to offices in Hanover and Elkridge, MD.
