Maritime Data Analyst (Remote)

Job Description


We are seeking a Maritime Data Analyst to provide a broad range of analytical and project management support to the Maritime Operations department. The role directly impacts the Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (“HESS”) performance of the Corporation through insightful analysis and transparency of relative performance across the fleet. The role includes responsibility for the review and quality assurance of HESS event data and related incident investigations, ensuring accuracy and relevance of downstream reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supports the production of periodic reports to facilitate communication of business performance to internal stakeholders and external bodies including monthly/quarterly HESS performance, management incentive program (MIP) data and sustainability reporting
  • Quality assurance of Corporate HESS data, including inclusion/retention of essential parameter coding to facilitate downstream reporting
  • Production of periodic incident-related reports and analytics to senior management, including the weekly HESS Leadership Team ‘Flash’ Report
  • Supports the production of incident data analytics (including root cause analysis) to identify trends and provide insight leading to policy, procedural and/or operational changes
  • Supports regular / ad-hoc analyses of HESS performance indicators to illustrate relative performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Supports/implements efforts for strategic MP&A analytical initiatives
  • Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely
  • Role based at Carnival plc’s offices in Southampton, UK
  • Work beyond normal business hours occasionally required to support business needs or projects

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in any technical / scientific / mathematical subject
  • 1-3 years’ experience in data management / reporting / analytics (Relevant experience in a maritime operations environment may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with administration of rules and regulations and compliance oversight
  • Knowledge and aptitude for formal administrative processes and procedures
  • Ability to review/critique HESS content and manage logical processes within structured databases
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and relationship development skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, adept at working both independently and in collaborative team settings
  • Reliable, conscientious, discrete and adaptable to changeable situations
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of maritime operations / management preferred

The range for this role’s base salary is $65,000 - $75,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
