The HR Generalist will provide business partner support to assigned client groups located in the US. The role will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Durham, NC. This position requires the ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, who is collaborative and influential while exercising sound judgment and solid decision-making skills. They should be able to competently recognize when issues require escalation. This individual must be extremely organized and able to effectively prioritize and multi-task. Having a strong customer service attitude and mentality is critical in this role, as is the ability to effectively contribute within a dynamic team environment. As this position has access to confidential data, extreme discretion is required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as a liaison between the broader HR team and assigned client groups to ensure effective implementation of strategic HR initiatives, ensuring consistent interpretation and administration of HR programs and company policies/procedures.
Works closely with client groups to improve working relationships, increase productivity, build employee engagement and retention.
Provides guidance and support on day-to-day general employee relations issues escalating more complex issues to senior HR management and/or legal as appropriate.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
Provides recommendations and support to the leadership team in managing performance, including coaching, counseling, and partnership on performance plan development.
Supports the onboarding of new hires, including conducting new hire orientation for both local and remote employees.
Acts as the main point of contact regarding HR issues for both managers and employees in assigned client groups.
Coordinates with SME’s in benefits, leave administration and payroll to ensure employees receive proper pay and benefits.
Responsible for processing employee life cycle changes in HRIS.
Collaborates with payroll, legal, training and other HR team members and provides pro-active communication to ensure maximum efficiency in the HR department.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
Assists in the development of policies and processes.
Supports HR project initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field
Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist/Business Partner experience with demonstrated experience providing effective business partner support to assigned client groups
HR certification a plus (PHR, SHRM-CP)
Knowledge of Human Resources and applicable local labor laws
Proficient with HRIS systems, experience in ADP/Workday is a plus
Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to adapt communication style to different audience members
Strong business acumen with ability to integrate HR and business strategies
Ability to develop recommendations and solutions that meet the needs of employees as well as the company
Effective internal consulting, collaboration and influencing skills sets required
Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
