Location: Remote

We are looking for a creative Marketing and Distribution Counsel who can assist our marketing, agency, and partnership teams reach our customers in creative and compliant ways. You are an attorney and excellent problem solver who enjoys being a strategic partner to creative clients responsible for company P&L. You have an understanding of insurance sales and agency operations, including complex distribution channels. You have a keen attention to detail and are excellent at concise, accessible communication. What we need:

  • 4-7 years of legal experience working with various distribution channels including agencies and marketing handling legal review of marketing materials, marketing strategy, and contracts related to agencies and product distribution
  • A strong understanding of Unfair Trade Practices law and other insurance consumer protection statutes
  • The ability to understand policy coverages and translate them into language that is clear and transparent to our customers and agents
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Team player attitude
  • Candidates must be licensed to practice law and in good standing
  • Must have insurance experience

What you'll do:

  • Review and edit insurance marketing and informational materials, communications to agency partners, and various other communications from our distribution channels to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Partner with the business teams to create innovative agreements for various distribution channels
  • Review and negotiate contracts with agency and referral partners
  • Work closely with compliance team to lead trainings and optimize various processes
  • Provide fast and effective work-product
  • Respond with timely and actionable counsel to internal clients
  • Maintain attorney/client privilege as in-house counsel
  • Additional duties may include special legal projects and initiatives with other teams

The US annual base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000 - $209,000. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, without limitation, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. NEXT employees are eligible to participate in our equity incentive program and will also receive our benefits package, consisting of our partially subsidized medical plan, fully subsidized vision/dental options, life insurance, disability insurance, 401(k), flexible paid time off, parental leave and more.
