NPosition Type ManagementPOSITION SUMMARYThe Financial Contract Compliance (FCC) department works with various stakeholders (corporate departments, continent leadership and regional teams, Legal) to ensure financial contractual responsibilities are executed and financial results are recorded in compliance with US GAAP. The organization supports corporate processes in partnership with the continent organizations worldwide across all brands, as well as the respective Finance Business Partners, Global Finance Centers of Expertise, and Accenture Hospitality Services (AHS).As a member of the FCC team, the Manager will play an integral role in the accurate compilation and timely recording, reporting, forecasting and analysis of Marriott International (MI)’s cost reimbursement revenue and expense – primarily driven from above-property programs and services (P&S) including Funds (Program Services Fund, Sales & Marketing Funds). This position will oversee activities to properly classify and recognize revenues in compliance with ASC606 Revenue Recognition standards and MI accounting policies including centralized oversight and delivery of SOX controls. This position will participate in all aspects of management and franchise contract compliance pertaining to revenues, including documentation and discussions with the Finance Business Partners, Continent Finance, AHS, Accounting Policy, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal, and other Global Finance departments.EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS• Execute actuals, forecast, budget and planning cycles reporting and analysis requirements. Coordinate with stakeholders to incorporate contractually compliant estimates, and accurately reflect MI’s revenue.• Serve as a point of contact for the Discipline and Continent Finance Business Partners on contract matters as they relate to above-property P&S and Marriott’s revenue recognition.• Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard processes to ensure accurate and timely recognition of MI’s revenues in a dynamic multi-currency, multi-entity environment.• Partner with various Global Finance departments to ensure P&S are properly included/excluded from end to end Cost Reimbursement processes.• Participate in reimbursable P&S related special projects including revenue recognition policy, operationalizing unique contract provisions, planning cycles, new brands and related integration of processes.• Participate in and support Global Finance initiatives• Partner with AHS to maintain effective processes and partnerships, with an end to end process focus.• Partner with Corporate Financial Accounting (CFA) and FBPs to review and approve charge code form submissions• Review contractual agreements to understand revenue recognition requirements and contractual reporting requirements, including standard and complex deal arrangements.• Focus on providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.• Perform additional responsibilities as required to meet business objectives.CANDIDATE PROFILEExperience• 5+ years of relevant finance / accounting experience• Prior supervisory experience preferred• Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems• Experience in lodging/hospitality industry and contracts/legal agreements strongly preferredKnowledge & Skills• Strong financial acumen with proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues and to initiate, design, implement and document required business processes.• Strong technical accounting skills; understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and related controls.• Understanding of Marriott’s management contracts and business models.• Experience in interpreting complex contract provisions, evaluate MI’s risks, and coordinate compliance and handling of complex financial issues.• Well-organized with strong organizational and managerial skills to be able to manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing business demands, and follow through on commitments.• Proficient in spreadsheet and other business software applications.• Experience with PeopleSoft and or/SmartView preferred.• High degree of initiative; highly motivated self-starter.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment.• Strong organizational skills; effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments.• Strong oral/written communication skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.• Demonstrates leadership presence with the ability to influence others and function effectively in a collaborative environment.• Fosters relationships and a positive work environment to build effective teams committed to organizational initiatives• Keen attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining the “big” picture at the same timeEducation and Professional Certification• B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required• CPA or MBA preferredLOCATION• This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters.The salary range for this position is $83,550 to $153,175 annually.
