Sr. Underwriter

Victor Small Business is currently seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our team.Position Summary: A licensed, service-centric role where you will be expected to apply your commercial insurance knowledge and analytical skills to support agents and colleagues in administering insurance quotes, policies, and post bind policy activities.What can you expect?• Reviews, analyzes, and services new and existing commercial insurance business.• Utilizes appropriate software to engage with and assist agents with policy-related information• In conjunction with other Sr. Underwriter’s and under the supervision of the Operation’s manager; act as the team’s central point of contact for license-required calls and transactions• In the first 30 days, participate in a required robust training program of classroom, on the job, and computer-based training• Work an 8-hour shift between our hours of operation 8am - 9pm EST Monday- Friday• In this role you can expect to service our clients and colleagues primarily via phone and chat. You must be comfortable conversing and working in a phone-based position while providing top tier customer service• You will be joining a team of highly motivated and knowledgeable individuals ranging from Sr. Underwriters to Jr. Underwriters• Work in a desirable location on a campus with tons of employee amenitiesWhat is in it for you?• A company with a strong brand and strong results to match• Culture of internal mobility, collaboration and valued partnership with HR from the business.• Employee Resource Groups which provide access to leaders, relevant volunteer and mentoring opportunities, as well as interactions with counterparts in industry groups and client organizations• Competitive pay (salary and bonus potential), Full benefits package – starting day one (medical, dental, vision, STI/LTI, life insurance, generous 401k match AND contribution• Flexible work opportunities for work/life balance• Tuition Reimbursement plan per year and participation in our Employee Stock Purchase PlanWe will count on you to:• Demonstrate strong insurance knowledge and provide the highest standards of customer service to agents; respond by phone support, online chat, and emails• Underwrite new submissions to ensure new policies are correct, per guidelines• Process endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and complete policy issuance• Meet required production KPIs as defined by leadership• De-escalate difficult customers and bring situations to complete resolution• Demonstrate a clear understanding of time management techniques by working independently with moderate supervision and as a participating and contributing member of a team• Actively and consistently participate in and contribute to group activities to include daily huddles, team meetings, and training opportunities• Communicate in a concise, tactful, prompt and effective manner both over the phone and by email• Build and maintain a positive working relationship with agents, customers, coworkers and othersWhat you need to have:• Property & Casualty (P&C) license or willing and able to obtain within 6 months of hire• AFNI license or willing and able to obtain within 12 months hire• Experience working with insurance procedures and policies.• Strong organizational, time management skills along with ability to work in a team environment• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members• Excellent written and verbal communication• Basic to intermediate technical knowledge of systems and procedures• Basic computer knowledge and comfortable using the Microsoft suite.
