Summary
Due to continued growth, we are adding a Payroll Tax Manager position. This role reports to the Director of Payroll and will oversee and manage tax withholding, filing, compliance and reconciliation processes for the Company.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all payroll tax operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Perform regular audits and reviews of payroll tax calculations, ensuring accuracy and completeness in tax withholdings, including income taxes, Social Security, Medicare, and other applicable taxes
- Reconcile and prepare all periodic payroll-related journal entries and other required reports within specified deadlines
- Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and rates and implement necessary adjustments to payroll tax procedures and systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely communication and reporting of tax-related information
- Manage relationships with external tax agencies, auditors, and consultants, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries, requests, and audits
- Provide training and guidance to HR, Payroll Operations, and other relevant teams on payroll tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Stay updated on industry best practices, trends, and technological advancements in payroll tax management, recommending and implementing process improvements where applicable
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 8+ years of professional Payroll and Tax management experience
- Experience with payroll tax in a multi-state and multi-jurisdiction environment
- Excellent people skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to develop strong working relationships throughout the organization at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
- Must be able to effectively manage changes and support impacted areas of the business
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and background in payroll accounting and tax practices and principles
- Payroll tax compliance experience with a public company
- Experience working with ADP SmartCompliance for Payroll Tax
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions related payroll tax compliance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with a wide range of internal and external customers.\
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and produce accurate and timely results
