Summary:
Martin Marietta is seeking a Senior Accountant based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC. Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for various aspects of fixed assets and lease accounting. This individual must be able to identify and resolve problems both independently and as a part of a team
Responsibilities:
- Accounting of fixed assets and ASC 842 leased assets of the corporation
- Heavily involved in the month-end close process
- Manage the annual Asset Retirement Obligation (“ARO”) evaluation and analysis process
- Work closely with the Tax Department in their management of the fixed assets for Tax reporting
- Manage the preparation of the fixed asset rollforward and fixed asset integrities for monthly reporting
- Provide assistance with quarterly and annual reporting schedules
- Preparation of various account reconciliations
- Evaluate and recommend new approaches and procedures that result in process improvements and efficiencies
- Lead the recording, analysis and reporting of ASC 842
- Assist with fixed asset related projects and other special projects assigned by management
- Interface with internal and external auditors as required
- Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis with emphasis on data analytics
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA required
- 5+ years of accounting experience or minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with CPA/master’s degree
- Possess a strong working knowledge of fixed asset accounting, which includes both book and tax ledgers
- Possess strong data analytics experience
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Self-starter and a quick learner who can work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel; JD Edwards skills desirable
- Detail-oriented with excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
