Background
Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life in rural Maryland communities. MRDC was founded in 1979 as the Community Action Agency (CAA) for the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland. In 1986, MRDC began its 40-year partnership with Head Start and added Early Head Start in recent years.
Today, MRDC has a budget of over $12 million and a staff of 150. Services provided include Head Start, Early Head Start, Housing: including First Time Homebuyer Program, Foreclosure Assistance/Mortgage Modification, Home Repairs and Weatherization and Emergency Housing. Community Services: including Financial Counseling and Budgeting, Food Pantries, and Diapers for Families Program. Adult Education, Town Management: including basic support for town management and services to large, several-year projects such as wastewater system installation or replacement, MRDC offers a stable of experts to lead towns and the people in them to self-sufficiency. Over the past decade, the MRDC Town Management Program has provided over $100 million of support, repair, and new development to towns from the Western mountains to the Eastern Shore farmland.
Major Responsibilities
The Executive Director is responsible for all financial, operational, administrative and legal aspects of the daily organizational management of the agency, which includes but it is not limited to annual fund development, public relations and marketing, sound management of all fiscal resources, supervision of an established program staff, and business operations in accordance with standard business practices. The Executive Director will liaise effectively with national, state, regional and local organizations, and coordinate the contributions of diverse groups of trustees, donors, staff, volunteers, and
community groups. The Executive Director works under authority granted by the Board of Directors to assist in defining priorities to build and develop teamwork between the agency and community volunteer leaders, to implement the Board’s Strategic Plan and ensure program and fiscal accountability. The position is based in Greensboro, Maryland.

Compensation
The projected compensation for this position is based on education and experience, starting at $150,000 - $160,000 annually.
Compensation is supplemented by a strong benefits package including Medical, Health Savings Account, Dental, Vision, Life/ A D & D, Employee Assistance Program, short-term disability, cell phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, 401K, and PTO.
