Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Fractional Chief Marketing Officer to lead our brand positioning and drive demand generation efforts. This leader will shape MassMedia’s marketing and growth strategy, supporting business development, thought leadership, and national visibility.

The ideal candidate brings deep agency or B2B marketing experience, a proven track record of fueling growth, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to architect and execute a marketing engine that positions MassMedia as the go-to partner for fast-growing brands wishing to scale nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

· Develop and implement a high-impact marketing and brand strategy aligned with MassMedia’s growth goals

· Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, providing insight on market positioning, value proposition, and messaging

· Translate company vision into compelling campaigns and initiatives that drive visibility and inbound interest

Lead Generation & Demand Creation

· Architect and manage a lead generation strategy targeting decision-makers in key verticals (home services, retail, hospitality, and consume goods)

· Oversee campaign development across paid, organic, social, and content channels

· Support outreach strategies, working with internal team members to nurture prospects and build a strong sales pipeline

Brand Building & Thought Leadership

· Elevate the MassMedia brand through thought leadership, earned media, content marketing, and strategic events

· Position the CEO and senior team as marketing industry thought leaders through speaking engagements, op-eds, and executive visibility opportunities

· Collaborate with internal teams to build compelling case studies and pitch collateral

Team Collaboration & Oversight

· Guide and mentor internal marketing team members (creative, digital, social) to execute against a unified vision

· Lead regular strategy check-ins, provide direction on initiatives, and ensure execution aligns with KPIs

· Recommend tools, systems, and resources needed to scale the marketing function efficiently

Measurement & Optimization

· Define success metrics and regularly report on campaign performance and marketing ROI

· Use data to guide decisions, optimize campaigns, and continuously improve lead generation and brand performance

· Stay ahead of trends to keep the agency’s brand relevant and competitive

· 10+ years in marketing, with prior leadership in a CMO, VP of Marketing, or agency growth role

· Proven experience driving growth in a professional services, agency, or B2B environment

· Expertise in full-funnel marketing, demand generation, and digital strategy

· Strong executive presence and communication skills

· Experience working in a fractional, remote, or consultancy model preferred

· Strategic and analytical, but also hands-on and execution-orientented
