Outline of Duties:
The Production Control Material Planner works with suppliers to ensure delivery, quality, and effective relationships. This role supports suppliers with any expediting as needed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of material for production.
The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role.
- Understand production schedules, service requirements, and new trial activity - then calculate required amounts of steel, aluminum, and resin over the upcoming 3-month period (total of ~180-200 part numbers)
- Review current inventory in-house and place orders for steel, aluminum, and resin directly with suppliers (currently 6 steel and aluminum suppliers plus 1 resin supplier)
- Schedule receiving plans for ~150 steel & aluminum trucks and 4 resin trucks per week
- Work with Engineering on steel and aluminum coil storage availability - this is critical to determine the appropriate material inventory levels and determine reorder points
- Coordinate new delivery plans with suppliers as needed when production plans are not achieved; negotiate coil storage plans with suppliers when there are severe production plan changes after orders have been placed
- Assess overall supplier capability and work with suppliers to develop recovery plans when delivery performance or quality falls below target
- Address any issues with lead times, logistics, and deliveries
- Produces reporting and cost analysis as needed
- Provide support for special projects as required
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Engineering Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Engineering Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
