Job Title: Materials Engineer

Full-Time Position – United States

Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

ROLE SYNOPSIS

The primary focus for this position will be in ceramic manufacturing with an emphasis in utilizing materials science to improve processes and support the development and transition of new products. This position works to support North American insert and wear parts manufacturing.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assure all EHS guidelines and requirements are met to promote a safe working environment.
  • Provide on-site assistance to improve equipment efficiency, product quality, and plant productivity.
  • Write proposals for funding capital purchases and coordinate installation and testing of equipment.
  • Guide the development, testing, and processing of material from raw powder to finished products.
  • Program high temperature furnace PLC’s and monitor profiles to insure process control.
  • Act as liaison between Technology and manufacturing to transition new products and processes.
  • Develop and lead projects utilizing plant workforce, with a focus on scrap and productivity losses.
  • Perform root cause analysis on EHS deficiencies, internal defects and customer returns.
  • Work with purchasing and outside vendors to obtain necessary materials and equipment.
  • Work with internal customers both in the facility and at other plant locations to improve delivery.
  • Work with Technology to develop and document process specifications.
  • Establish item routings and bill of materials using SAP data processing.
  • Author and publish work instructions and quality control plans.
  • Maintain process guidelines for the blank making processes and update plant databases.
  • Provide training in areas of responsibility, monitoring the proficiency of the workforce.
  • Work with the audit functions to verify compliance to the plant’s quality standard.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or 2+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Undergraduate research or company experience will be considered.
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
