The Receiving Clerk is also responsible for resolving problems / discrepancies related to receipts; for safe-guarding items received and for keeping the Receiving Department, including adjoining hallway and loading dock orderly. Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Good verbal and written skills, with English as the chosen language of communication.
  • Simple arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Materials Management Experience preferred. Must be able to learn all aspect of the position within 90 days from date of hire
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver items to the proper destinations.
  • Deliver electrical equipment to Bio-Medical Electronics within one (1) working day of receipt, and then to the ordering Department within one (1) working day of notification by Bio-Medical/DFE that it is ready for delivery. Maintain a written record of items sent to/receive from Bio-Medical.
  • Deliver stock needles/syringes into the locked syringe room in DCC and/or place x-ray film into the locked film cage in DCB within thirty (30) minutes of receipt.
  • Do not allow items to be taken from Receiving without their first having been matched to a Purchase Order, or the authorizing document (eg check request for, say, books).
  • Prepare items for shipment out (other than U.S. Postal Service).
  • Contact purchasing for coordination with their efforts.
  • Make proper arrangements depending on the services required.
  • Handle emergency requests immediately.
  • Provide back-up coverage for the other functions in the Warehouse, as needed.
  • Maintain departmental security by challenging/reporting suspicious persons immediately as appropriate. Do not allow unauthorized persons to enter the Department Secure items properly.
  • Keep work area, including the trash pick up area and the pallet storage area, neat, well organized and free of clutter.
  • Give appropriate information/referral to those with questions about orders, procedures, etc.
  • Advise Manager promptly of staffing/operational concerns potentially requiring his/her intervention.
  • Operate equipment, whether mechanized or not, safely and with due caution. Wear appropriate protective gear.
  • Receive items purchased for Hospital, checking shipping labels to verify that the items are for the Hospital. Refuse misdirected shipments.
  • Inspect goods for visible damage upon receipt and give proper notification to the shipper and to Purchasing.
  • Take items into the receiving area as soon as possible after arrival.
  • Place items onto pallets, carts, or shelving as appropriate, pending delivery.
  • Store items marked for refrigeration or other controlled environment appropriately pending delivery.
  • Complete the paperwork associated with all receipts/deliveries, and forward/file as appropriate.
