What you’ll do
- Provide Division President and senior business leaders with decision support and proactive financial leadership to increase shareholder value
- Working with the senior management team, develop key performance metrics, reporting and analysis for the Division
- Provide timely and accurate analysis and information to ensure that Management Team maximizes Return on Investments (ROI) and Return on Equity (ROE) while operating within budget
- Analyze budgets and “Up to the Minute Forecasts” for all Division entities (including Land Development, Building and SG&A Expenses) providing professional and timely management report on variances, trends, and control standards and practices
- Provide second level review and analysis of Proformas prepared by Land or Housing for viability, accuracy and sensitivity
- Responsible for the consolidation process for the US Group, ensure consolidated financial statements are in adherence with U.S. GAAP
- Drive accounting process and data standardization actions and improvements; provide structured guidance to accounting teams that enables increased standardization and consistency in accounting practices
- Responsible for timely and accurate period end close process, financial statement preparation, financial reporting design and production
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of data supporting the consolidated financial statements and period end reporting packages
- Be the lead accounting expert for accounting data flows that impact financial reporting, (Essbase, JDE, FAST, other feeder sources for period end reporting packages)
- Support external audits, act as liaison between the Accounting Department and the External Audit Team; ensure complete and accurate reconciliations, supporting documentation, lead schedules, and account analysis delivered timely
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance/Accounting
- Must have a CPA, and preferably 3-4 years of experience in public accounting
- 7+ years of experience in management level position in Finance, and/or Accounting
- 5+ years of experience in homebuilding and land development areas of business preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of current Canadian accounting standards would be a plus
- Excellent analytical, administrative skills and organizational skills
- Understand complex GAAP accounting principles, conduct GAAP research, draft accounting position papers
- Strong leadership skills, performance management and people development experience, along with the capability to team build and foster strong relationships
- Solid judgment and strategic thinking, including the ability to identify and analyze issues and opportunities
- Exceptional Communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Advanced competence in MS Office applications; ability to quickly learn and demonstrate competence with financial systems
- Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity
