Mechanical Engineer for Electric Mobility

The position

We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer with the skills needed to design, develop, and analyse electric motor products. You will be a part of a team that develops best-in-class electric machines for exciting applications such as aerial and underwater drones. The position will entail a diverse mix of engineering tasks and will see you take initial concepts all the way through to final product testing and validation. Alva’s on-site manufacturing and assembly facilities means you will always stay within touching distance of your designs throughout the product development process.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in using CAD software to create detailed and well thought through designs for the components and assemblies that form our product range.

This role is ideally suited to an Engineer who has a strong interest in all aspects of product design and enjoys owning projects from initial concept right through to the testing of the final product. An ability and willingness to learn new engineering skills in all areas of the design process is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer products that meet the customer requirements
• Create detailed and high-quality engineering drawings
• Manage engineering bill of materials and product structures
• Provide engineering support to procurement to select and advise suppliers.
• Work closely with Alva’s manufacturing team to ensure product designs are suitable for mass manufacture.

Requirements

You should preferably have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, although exceptional graduates with time spent in relevant internships will also be considered. Experience in the field of electric machine design would be a strong advantage.

Key attributes:

• Relevant engineering degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.)
• Able to create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD.

Beneficial attributes:

• Knowledge of GD&T and design for manufacture
• Knowledge of PLM and eBOM systems
• Experience in design of bolted joints and shaft/bearing systems.
• Experience in product design for automotive or aerospace applications
• Working knowledge of coding in python or similar.
