RHI Magnesita is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who will provide hands on support to our mining and refractory brick manufacturing process in York, PA.!
This dynamic position will use their engineering knowledge and project experience to manage both large and small capital projects to support structural plant needs and operational requirements.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing, budgeting, presenting, executing, and managing the non-electrical portions of the capital project. Typical project types include automation and robotics, equipment installation, structural steel repairs and upgrades, machine and component design and environmental compliance.
The position will work under the direction and guidance of the Mechanical Engineering Manager but will need to be self-motivated and eager to get involved.
The Mechanical Engineer's tasks include:
Safety

Support the development of a strong, pro-active safety culture
- Supervise all project work - with both internal and third-party contractors - ensuring that proper safety protocols and practices policies are followed
Capital projects

Interact with operations production, or maintenance and safety team members to create develop a project scope and project requirements. Prepare a in addition to a complete project package including project budget, resource requirements, third- party involvement, timeline, etc.
- Facilitate the bidding and selection process

Coordinate aspects of capital project activities along with internal and third parties with keen awareness of project budget and timeline. Hold involved parties accountable for any cost or time overruns and communicate project status and support needs to leadership team members.
Engineering services

Interacts frequently with the manufacturing production and mining team members regarding equipment operation, process concerns, or optimization of equipment in many cases, our work environment will require the project engineer to be outside in inclement weather, in our facilities with high levels of noise and dust, as well as in the office environment reviewing current documentation and creating new.
- Provide technical support to maintenance professionals to troubleshoot equipment failures

Prepare and maintain suitable records of engineering activities

Recommend modifications or improvements to existing equipment to improve overall operating costs

About you
Do you have:
-
B.S. degree from an accredited institution with a relevant engineering degree like Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering

5+ years of project engineering experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting

Strong understanding of relevant mechanical equipment operation and machine design; ability to read and decipher schematics and blueprints

Finance or accounting experience related to project budget creation, cost analysis, and overall project success reporting
- Experience managing capital projects
- Ability to interact with staff, employees and visitors in a pleasant, professional demeanor

Hands on, forward thinking and improvement/results driven

AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software experience

Experience in the refractory, mineral, mechanical or chemical industries

Works effectively and collaboratively, including clear written and verbal communications

High proficiency with MS Office Suite of products, specifically MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Detail oriented

Project management training
- Experience with OSHA or MSHA requirements preferred

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., when necessary

Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally. Travel expectation is 5% of the time or less.
