Overview:

This Mechanical Engineer Intern position, based in Plainview, NY will assist in in new product design and development activities within the Advanced Deposition and Etch Product lines.


Responsibilities:

  • Participate in new product design and development activities within the Advanced Deposition and Etch Product lines
  • Develop Solid models and create engineering drawings utilizing CAD & Microsoft Office tools
  • Provide “hands on” assistance and support to prototyping and test activities
  • Provide assistance in the creation of experimental test plans
  • Work side-by-side with the Mechanical Engineering, Process and Technology teams in a fast-paced industrial environment with a high level of technological complexity

Qualifications:

  • A Junior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program working towards a Bachelor's degree
  • Able to work full-time in the Summer onsite and part-time during the school year

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ion Assisted Thin film Deposition and Etch technology
  • High vacuum equipment, heat transfer, motion mechanisms
  • 3D CAD modeling, SolidWorks preferred
  • Finite element analysis (structural, thermal, etc.) using Ansys, Solidworks or similar
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to take initiative and own assignments
