Position Description

The Student Health Center (SHC) is a primary care clinic providing services to enrolled students. In addition, the SHC manages immunization compliance and is a resources and liaison for the opt-out student health insurance program offered to international students.

The Medical Assistant Clinic Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative and clinical support while coordinating and facilitating the smooth and efficient flow of patients through the Student Health Center under the supervision of nurse practitioners. This position reports to the Director of the Student Health Center and is responsible for the training of the Medical Assistant and Administrative Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support for front desk and medical assistant duties.
  • Responsible for management of the SHC CLIA lab including but not limited to ordering supplies, maintenance of lab equipment standards, POC testing reporting requirements, and quality assurance.
  • Manage staff work requirements including licensure, certification, CPR, immunizations, etc.; additionally, arranging FIT testing/training, PPE and blood born pathogen training, lab test competencies, and HR required trainings.
  • Staff schedule management including staff time off approval
  • Lead the Immunization Compliance Management program for student vaccine requirements.
  • Student Health Insurance claims accounting.
  • Management of student billing including Medicat management and balance transfers to the controller’s office
  • Regular communication with Clinic Director and actively participates in team & divisional meetings for effective problem solving and communication. Lead meetings with direct reports and co-lead staff meetings.
  • Maintains currency of licensure, certification, mandatory training, and continuing education.
  • To be able to perform the above essential duties and responsibilities as well as other duties as assigned by the Director of the SHC under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant with certificate from an accredited program and unencumbered license to work in Washington state.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting, with 1 year in a lead; preferable in an outpatient setting and/or in a university health center.
  • This position requires a criminal history background check
  • Computer skills with ability to utilize and navigate between multiple systems. And experience with electronic medical record keeping , including documenting and maintaining patient care records.
  • Understanding of medical practice and clinic policies in providing patient care
  • Experience with examination and diagnostic procedures, and use and maintenance of medical equipment used for patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Physical requirements:
    - Occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 20 pounds
    - Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer
    - Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $56,062 - $62,400 annually or $28.75 - $32/hr

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
