What is a Surg Tech?
A surgical technologist, or surgical tech, is a key member of the surgical team responsible for preparing the operating room, ensuring instruments are sterile, and assisting during procedures by passing tools and maintaining a sterile environment. They help anticipate the needs of surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations. After surgery, they assist in cleaning and restocking the room. Surgical technologists typically complete a specialized training program and may earn certification.
