Medical Billing Specialist - Customer Service

Billing Specialist - Summary: Perform accounts receivable functions including billing, pursuing reimbursement, customer service, and record keeping.


Job Duties:

  • Responsible for claim review and submission to insurance payers. Verify accuracy and completion of all required information prior to submission.
  • Follow up with insurance companies about unpaid or rejected claims. Resolve issues and resubmit claims as needed.
  • Interpret insurance explanation of benefits; maintain specialized knowledge of insurance processes and guidelines, including authorizations and limitations.
  • Investigate insurance claim denials, exceptions, or exclusions. Resolve claim and payer issues to recover proper reimbursement.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all billing inquiries and complaints. Explain processes, benefits, and exclusions. Follow HIPAA guidelines for customer information.
  • Perform other billing duties as requested by Billing leadership team.


Qualifications and Requirements
:

  • Previous administrative or clerical support experience required; medical billing experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, experience supporting customers in person/over phone.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite; knowledge of computer programs/software helpful.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Solid time management skills with ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mathematics and problem solving skills.
  • Open to continued learning/sharing information re: insurance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions; consider conclusions or multiple approaches to problems.
