Embedded Software Engineer I

You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.A Day in the LifeAs a Software Engineer I, you will be a member of the new product development team that supports the design and development of innovative products within the Surgical Business.Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:• Design, implement, and test software for medical device products• Participate in requirements gathering, estimating and planning• Create documentation throughout the development process• Work with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product• Commit to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines• Perform duties in compliance with the Quality SystemTECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.DIFFERENTIATING FACTORSAutonomy: Entry-level individual contributor on a project or work team.Works with close supervision.Organizational Impact: Delivers work of limited scope, typically smaller, less complex projects or related activities.Innovation and Complexity: Identifies, defines and addresses problems that are not immediately evident but typically not difficult or complex.Makes minor changes in systems and processes to solve problems.Communication and Influence: Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group.Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information.Leadership and Talent Management: N / A – job at this level is focused on self-development.Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education.Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R.• 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A), 0 years of experience required.• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent• Experience with C/C++ in a Linux development environment• Knowledge of Object Oriented Development and familiarity with UML• Knowledge of software development best practicesPhysical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PR) locations (USD):$74,400.00 - $111,600.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
