The Role of a Teacher’s Assistant at Meeting Street Schools:

Meeting Street Schools (MSS) Teacher’s Assistants support the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment while providing an outstanding educational experience for all students.




Responsibilities
  • Supports the work of the lead teacher in a Special Education classroom.
  • Supports the lead teacher in preparing materials, meals, and activities
  • Works with small groups and manages student behavior as instructed by the teacher
  • Maximizes effective learning and productivity through organization of space and materials
  • Teaches and reinforces routines and procedures to maximize instructional time
  • Actively takes a productive role in the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children
  • Works collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of each student through essential communication and collaboration
  • Exercises clear judgement and integrity in decision-making, foresees the ripple effect of decisions, and makes kind and expedient decisions with the student always at the forefront
  • Participates in school-wide functions and events
  • Shares a commitment to the mission, goals, culture, and objectives of MSS
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Compassionate, enthusiastic, empathetic and displays a strong work ethic
  • Ability to kneel, sit, stand for long periods of time


Educational Background and Work Experience
  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred


The base salary for this position starts at $40,000 and is commensurate with experience.
