We designed and delivered a reimagined veterinary experience via a membership that includes exceptional care, 24/7 telemedicine, and transparent pricing - delivered with modern hospitality in spaces designed by animal experts to be stress-free. We opened our flagship location in Manhattan's West Village in 2020, followed by multiple practices in the city and Brooklyn. Small Door continues to scale in 2022 by opening additional NYC locations and in markets across the northeast including Boston and Washington DC.
This is the fifth company that Small Door’s founders have been involved in building. In building Small Door, they partnered with the people responsible for beloved consumer experiences like Warby Parker and Sweetgreen, in addition to healthcare innovators such as One Medical, CityMD and Flatiron Health. Small Door has raised $40 million from Lerer Hippeau, Primary Ventures, Brand Foundry, Toba Capital, and Pentland Group. The broader management team brings experience from JustWorks, Casper, One Medical, Soulcycle, Warby Parker, Sweetgreen, The Wing, Gilt Groupe, Lightspeed, and Outbrain.

As a Membership Advisor, you will be tasked with receiving inbound calls from potential members and executing outbound calls, with the goal of selling the Small Door membership. You are the expert on the benefits of the Small Door membership and are the first touchpoint a pet owner has with Small Door. You will play an integral role in driving growth through one-to-one patient acquisition and work to build lasting relationships with prospective and existing members. This is a remote position and will work closely with our Member Experience Teams and our Senior Manager of Virtual Care.

What you'll do

    • Sell memberships, achieving individual sales goals, renewals, and service goals;
    • Close sales by building trust with pet owner; explain membership and its benefits;
    • Sign up pet owners for membership and book their first appointment via the phone using our website/backend system;
    • Receive 15-20 inbound calls per day;
    • Follow up with interested pet owners to fully answer their questions and convert them to membership;
    • Support onboarding new members and act as a primary point of contact;
    • Help potential members understand what services are available to them at Small Door and how to best take advantage of everything we have to offer;
    • Send personalized outreach to existing members to gather feedback and recommend new services;
    • Leverage knowledge of Small Door to help craft a personalized experience;
    • Prospect new business and members;
    • Improve member retention by outbound outreach with winback campaign;
    • Maintain deep knowledge and familiarity with our memberships, services, and perks;
    • Embody Small Door’s mission to deliver extraordinary care in every interaction with members, patients, and colleagues.

Who you are

    • 2+ years experience working in sales, business development and/or cold calling;
    • Skilled at overcoming client objections and natural negotiator;
    • Experience with a call-center or remote customer service role strongly preferred;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially over the phone;
    • A drive to work for a company with a startup mindset, breaking tradition;
    • Self-motivated, team player, attention to detail, and customer service oriented;
    • Ability to connect with others, exudes empathy and compassion;
    • Passion and a love for animals (especially cats and dogs!);
    • Proficient with technology and computers.
