We are seeking a Director of Business Development to join our team working from our office in downtown Boston. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs). The ideal candidate will have startup experience and expertise in creating demand for a technical product used by a technical audience.


The Role:


We are seeking a highly-skilled and motivated Director of Business Development to join our dynamic team. In this role you will play a critical role in driving our growth and expanding our market presence. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the IoT industry and  with an outstanding team that is passionate about this growing market. The ideal candidate will have helped teams use a rich set of inbound and outbound tactics from cold calling, to data-driven email sequences, social selling and in-person events.


This role will report to our SVP of Growth, and will partner cross-functionally with leaders across the business, including Product, Marketing, Customer Experience, Partnerships and Sales. This position is based onsite in our office in downtown Boston with WFH flexibility as needed.


What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Recruit, lead and develop a team of BDRs, applying best practices for maximum results
  • Lead defining the process, playbooks, career paths and appropriate measurements for BDRs
  • Develop a highly-scalable yet personal outbound outreach strategy to reach prospects
  • Work with Sales Managers and Account Executives towards pipeline generation goals
  • Actively coach and develop the team to help them consistently achieve their goals
  • Use data to measure, manage, and optimize efforts and the use of resources
  • Inspire motivation, commitment and focus in pursuit of ambitious individual and team-level targets
  • Track and achieve weekly monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
  • Be a leader in our Boston office building a high energy environment where people love coming to work by embodying our company’s values of kindness, community and gratitude.


What You Should Have:
  • A passion for developing talent and coaching a team to success
  • Experience working at a Series C or earlier stage SaaS startup
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • 3+ years as a business development leader building high performing teams of 10+ BDRs
  • Experience pursuing engineering and product personas
  • Proven experience of running a great hiring and people development process
  • Expertise in a modern sales stack (Salesforce, Outreach, Gong and more)
  • Proven ability to develop and experiment with successful outbound prospecting strategies
  • Solid understanding of sales processes working with mid-market and enterprise sales teams
  • Ability to connect the dots through data across the GTM funnel
  • You have actively worked to learn, research and advocate on outbound sales strategies
  • While this is a leadership role, you have ‘walked the walk’ as an IC generating demand
  • Bachelor's degree

$150,000 - $200,000 a year
