OverviewInspects, calibrates, repairs, installs, and maintains medical equipment and instrumentation used in health care delivery field by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities• Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia.• Safety tests medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.• Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.• Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to medical personnel.• Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department.• Modifies or develops instruments or devices.• Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their sales representatives to assure proper operation of equipment.• Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking snow call and helping with special events.• May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends.• May require travel with personal or company vehicle.• May be assigned to any Mercyhealth locations.Culture of Excellence Behavior ExpectationsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following behavior expectations:Quality - Follows policies and procedures; adapts to and manages changes in the environment; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness giving attention to details; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Manages time and prioritizes effectively to achieve organizational goals.Service - Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance; Follows the Mercyhealth Critical Moments of service; Meets commitments; Abides by MH confidentiality and security agreement; Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; and effectively communicates information to partners; Thinks system wide regarding processes and functions.Partnering - Shows commitment to the Mission of Mercyhealth and Culture of Excellence through all words and actions; Exhibits objectivity and openness to other's views; Demonstrates a high level of participation and engagement in day-to-day work; Gives and welcomes feedback; Generates suggestions for improving work: Embraces teamwork, supports and encourages positive change while giving value to individuals.Cost - Conserves organization resources; Understands fiscal responsibility; Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and revenue.Education and ExperienceAssociate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications or student within 6 months of graduation required. In lieu of a degree, 15 years of direct experience will be considered.Experience in a Bio-medical program preferred.Certification and LicensureCertification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferredFor those driving Mercyhealth vehicles:Maintain a valid driver's license.Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.For those driving their personal vehicles:Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.Skills and AbilitiesSpecial Physical DemandsThe Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.This is considered heavy work.
