Located in Birmingham, AL, the Dotdash Meredith Food Studios is a state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill/BBQ station, and an expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals, stylists, and photographers, the Dotdash Meredith Food Studios is the country’s premier creative hub, producing thousands of world-class recipes, images, and related content annually for Dotdash Meredith’s print, digital, and social platforms.
The Photography Assistant will assist the studio photographers to create visual content for Dotdash Meredith’s print and digital brands. The position reports to the Photo Equipment Manager.
II. Essential Job Functions
Weight %: Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
- 25%: Assist photographers on-set, working closely with the equipment manager, to make sure all photographer needs are met
- 20%: Help the equipment manager maintain the studio equipment and ensure the studio is kept tidy and organized
- 20%: Deliver gear, and help set up and break down sets
- 20%: Assist in training and mentoring the photo fellow
- 10%: Step in to shoot on set as needed
- 5%: Input metadata/help with deliverables to brands

Experience:
At least 1 year previous assisting experience in a studio environment.

Knowledgeable: You are passionate about photography, first and foremost. You are comfortable working with a variety of studio equipment and know Photoshop and Capture One like the back of your hand.

Flexible: Highly adaptable to supporting frequent changes in direction and workflow; ability to support multiple photographers with simultaneous assignments.
Physical Job Requirements – Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
