Basic FunctionLeads the design team projects in conceptualizing designs, graphics and layouts to provide a clear and concise visual representation of campaigns and initiatives. Acts as design brand ambassador to maintain a consistent visual representation of the METRO brand across coordinated platforms. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.Responsibilities and Specific Duties• Leads the design team projects to develop original creative concepts and campaigns.• Takes ideas from concept to completion, to produce creative print design, web design, photography, interactive digital media and other media assets.• Reviews all design work completed design by team, and provides insight, edits and approval before moving forward to second level of review and concurrence.• Assigns design projects and manages workflow within project management software.• Coordinates with Account Executives to create and manage a deadline-driven traffic strategy to ensure consistent product delivery.• Coordinates on any photo management system or software to ensure seamless use by design team.• Ensures existing brand guidelines are met by design team and reviews brand usage by external partners and vendors.• Reviews and ensures consistent application of design and execution of projects.• Supports external design and marketing firms on design and execution of projects.• Ensures continuity and standards amongst all METRO external and internal communications.• Develops necessary specifications for thee procurement of vendors and services.• Attends press checks and ensures printed pieces are produced correctly.• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.• Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Education RequirementHigh school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communications, Art, Design, Marketing, Advertising or related field is required.Years & Experience RequiredMinimum seven (7) years graphic design experience executing complex projects and coordination of all production scheduling to completion. Experience leading graphic design projects is preferred.Knowledge & Skills RequiredIn-depth knowledge of Macintosh, excellent PC, QuarkXPress, and InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Microsoft Office applications. Advanced knowledge of printers and printing processes. Advanced typography skills, graphic design and layout skills. Strong communications (written and verbal) skills.Additional InformationThe Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas has a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy for all employees.
