Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
The manager-wind operations manages the supervision of wind field personnel to include third party operations and maintenance contractors for all wind generation facilities. Focus is on safe and effective utilization of the workforce, enhancing generation availability, effective management of all available resources to meet the needs and demands of wind generation, investigation and implementation of cost-savings and value enhancing opportunities, development of supervisory staff and investigating procedures, implementing changes and leading teams to achieve consistent practices. Establishes and implements business objectives, strategies and plans to achieve consistent, safe, efficient, environmentally compliant and cost-effective wind powered electrical generation.
Typical Duties
Directs the daily wind generation operation and maintenance activities for all wind sites to achieve safe, efficient, environmentally compliant and cost-effective wind powered electrical generation. Ensures work is planned, prioritized, scheduled and performed in a cost-effective manner. (40%)
Assists in negotiating multi-year service agreements with third-party operations and maintenance contractors and ensures proper administration for achievement of service, generation and availability targets. (15%)
Provides technical input and assists with project management responsibilities for unit outages, major overhauls and other projects as assigned. (10%)
Monitors and evaluates plant equipment and systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations. Develops and implements improved work practices and procedures when needed. (10%)
Assists in the development of the 10-year financial plan, generation targets and turbine supplier business plans and monitors and reports performance against plan goals and objectives. (10%)
Trains direct reports in safety, environmental compliance, operations and maintenance practices and procedures and assures compliance by employees and third-party operations and maintenance contractors of company policies, safety rules, collective bargaining agreements and government regulations. (5%)
Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring, and reporting the work performed within the department. (5%)
Acts as company liaison with property owners to provide efficient trouble-free operation. Assists in administration of wind project leases and easements. (5%)

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field; or the equivalent through experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive experience will be needed for candidates who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Eight years of related experience, including three years in a senior technical/leadership role.
Advanced leadership skills to direct the activities of individuals toward the accomplishment of goals.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
