Job Description SummaryThe vision of Miami University’s College of Engineering and Computing Outreach is to excite children and youth about engineering and computer science through fun and exciting hands-on activities and programs that will motivate them to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) Director of Outreach will build on CEC's current outreach programs to school students and teachers in the tristate area. They will continue existing partnerships and develop new ones with local schools and K-12 focused non-profits, organize and implement programming throughout the year, and sustain relationships with Miami University constituencies/stakeholders. They will support and enhance experiential learning programs for students with diverse backgrounds and create a potential pipeline into the Admissions process.Job DescriptionJob Duties include:Develop and steward CEC partnerships with local area schools and K-12 focused non-profits and industry partners.Communicate with school administrators, and teachers to find the best way to promote programs and to help better understand the needs of the students.Plan and organize CEC focused camps for middle and high school students.Coordinate day experiences for CEC student organization's outreach activities (Girls Who Code, Kode2Learn, SWE (Girl Scout Day), EWB (Engineering day), hackathons).Coordinate with Housing and Dining on use of facilities and fees for use by participants.Budgeting and proper accounting for allocated funds for programming.Develop agenda, activities, and appropriate programming for K12 students.Create marketing materials to support CEC outreach programs.Coordinate closely with the CEC academic departments, graduate programs, centers, institutes, and Admissions on outreach programming.Solicit and manage registration for programs.Recruiting, training and supervision of staff, students and/or volunteers in a manner appropriate for the event.Ensuring the safety of all program participants.Documenting the event (text and photos) and reporting on outcomes for future improvement.Develop and use tools to assess success of program activities. Assessment may be used to share success with other programs through papers and conferences.Documenting engineering outreach experiences through social media and ongoing evaluation and reports.Be cognizant of research and/or new technologies that could impact programs.Grant writing and donor interactions to solicit funding for K12 programs.Other duties as assigned.Additional InformationA criminal background check is required.
