We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.Azure Database OCTO team is hiring a Technical Advisor who will be responsible for tying together Azure Databases engineering needs with industry and academia trends. The OCTO is responsible for driving engineering agenda across Azure Databases as wells as leading innovations across engineering teams by focusing on long term strategic projects.We do not just value differences or different perspectives. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.Responsibilities• Industry, academia research, while working closely with our external and internal partners together• Intimate understanding of the Azure Database strategy as well as tactical needs• Advancing usage of GenAI and other leading trends across Azure Databases• Assessing engineering risks and Implementing prototypes• Educating LT and engineering teams about industry and academia trendsEmbody our culture and valuesQualificationsQualifications• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python• OR equivalent experience.• Experience building sophisticated system software, databases, operating systems, distributed systems• In depth understanding of Computer Science key areas such as databases, distributed systems, operating systems, compilers, networking, storage, AI, etc.Other RequirementsAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python• OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python• OR equivalent experience.• Prior exposure to industry and academia researchSoftware Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
