The Americas Communications Manager is responsible for managing the communications activities for the Mobile Emissions Catalysts business in the region. The main tasks include responsibility for all internal and external communications for our sites, including employee engagement, change management and crisis communications. The role also supports marketing communications activities in the Americas and change management needs of selected functions.
This position will develop and execute the communications strategy for the Mobile Emissions Catalysts business in the Americas, including:
- Act as a communications counselor to the Vice President of the business in the region and other members of the Americas business leadership team to improve their effectiveness as leaders.
- Create annual change management and internal communications plans as required, and execute communication tactics such as site newsletters, memos, manager communications, and other site events.
- Act as the primary crisis communications contact for the sites and perform “damage control” in case of bad publicity together with the Communications team.
- Execute specific external communication activities such as customer events, local media engagement (e.g., press releases), media training, community relations (e.g., facilitating any community advisory panels or similar groups) and employer branding.
- Work closely with business representatives to develop and implement creative and effective marketing campaigns to position the business as a solutions provider for customers and support other business goals.
- Perform vendor management, supervise, and guide external providers during preparation of all communication-related activities.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of internal and external print, web, and video communication materials.
- Engage employee resource group leaders and leverage existing resources to further improve communication channels and increase employee engagement at the site.
- Participate in and collaborate with the global business communications community to stay engaged on strategic initiatives critical to the business.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Your formula for success……
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred; 8 years of progressively responsible communications experience
- Strong understanding of communications processes, guidelines, policies, and practices
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, and experience developing change management and communication plans
- Basic understanding of catalysis, refinery applications, and engineered catalysts is desirable
- Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
- Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Solid understanding of project management principles
- Ability to use sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the job
- Ability to work with all levels within the organization and achieve alignments with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and initiative
- Must have the ability to travel to other sites from time to time (>10%)
