About the role:

Modular is building a next-generation AI infrastructure platform that unifies the many application frameworks and hardware backends, simplifying deployment for AI production teams and accelerating innovation for AI researchers and hardware developers. We are looking for a community manager to grow the developer community around the Mojo programming language and MAX platform. This involves managing our Discord community, running a champions program, highlighting user accomplishments, running hackathons, reviewing open source contributions, supporting virtual and in-person meetings like conferences and meetups, and creating an engaging experience for our growing community. What you will do:

• Community Engagement:

• Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for ML engineers and practitioners interested in engaging with the MAX platform and Mojo programming language.
• Directly engage with users to build a community of creators for the MAX platform and Mojo programming language.
• Facilitate discussions, answer questions, and provide support to community members across multiple platforms including GitHub, Discord, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among community members.
• Monitor community feedback, and help our community members feel heard.
• Develop a Community Champions program that rewards engagement, and offers a well-defined growth ladder for community leadership.
• Drive the establishment of moderation standards and best practices.
• Events:
• Organize and host meetups, workshops, webinars, and hackathons to promote MAX and Mojo, and facilitate learning opportunities for the community.
• Represent the community at conferences, summits, and industry events by delivering presentations, participating in panel discussions, and networking with industry professionals.
• Actively collaborate on Modular’s larger developer relations, product, and marketing strategies.

What you bring to the table:

• 4+ years of software community management experience, or previous experience as a software/AI developer collaborating on an open source project. Experience with community-driven languages like Python, Rust, Julia, and LLVM a plus, but not required.
• Experience as an active participant at conferences and other events, including giving talks, running workshops, and facilitating community development sessions.
• Experience promoting new technologies through blog posts, newsletters, webinars, and other media.
• Enthusiasm for working with new technology, including experience with Python and cloud APIs.
• Experience working with AI infrastructure products and platforms like TensorFlow, PyTorch, TensorRT, CUDA, Triton Inference Server, VertexAI, Sagemaker.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts in simple language.
• A passion for staying up to date with industry trends and happenings.
• A growth and leadership mindset, with an attitude that seeks to learn more from our customers, team, and the broader market.

The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $135,000.00 - $242,000.00 USD. 

The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
