The Role:

Morning Consult is looking for an entrepreneurial, business-oriented individual to manage its Legal Operations team. The Senior Manager, Legal Operations will assist in managing the full life-cycle of the company’s commercial contracts, including serving as a liaison between the Legal and Sales teams, helping the Legal team overcome operational challenges and supporting the Deal Desk function as needed on intake management and other strategic priorities.


Ideal candidates will demonstrate an entrepreneurial ethos toward improving internal processes and documentation. Specifically, the Senior Manager, Legal Operations will execute the following: (i) facilitate all necessary reviews of company contracts including troubleshooting the Company’s contract lifecycle management software with internal personnel; (ii) organize and track all company contracts and contractual obligations; (iii) conduct monthly contract data auditing and analysis and produce a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual data reports and visualizations; (iv) guide strategy for the development and improvement of legal operation workflows; and (v) processes and help on ad hoc projects that come with a dynamic company.

The Legal Team at Morning Consult:

The Legal team is part of the Operations division at Morning Consult. We work closely with teams across all divisions within Morning Consult to ensure that the company’s activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory and contractual obligations. Our lawyers are problem solvers, and we leverage those skills to help stakeholders achieve key strategic business objectives within the context of dynamic international and domestic compliance regimes.


What You’ll Be Working On:
  • Responsible for SaaS and services contract life-cycle management, including management of applicable CLM software, administration and storage of all company contracts and processing of contract requests related to new business and renewals
  • Engage in high-level issue-spotting to make an initial determination regarding the need for (and nature of) required attorney reviews
  • Manage the Legal team's engagement with the Sales team and other company personnel requiring contract review services and manage the fielding of all day-to-day inquiries regarding contract review policies, process and status
  • Responsible for ensuring all contracts meet the substantive requirements of applicable company policies
  • Data entry and document management, ensure proper contract logging and filling/archiving of executed contracts
  • Develop and manage contract reporting protocols, including (i) preparation of regular contract trend and data analysis reporting and (ii) the audit and verification of data accuracy across various shared platforms and tools
  • Manage the overall Legal Operations function, including the Contracts Administrator
  • Work closely with other General & Administrative teams to troubleshoot contract processing logistical issues and data flow processes related to Salesforce, DocuSign or otherwise, and identify process synergies
  • Maintain integrity and efficiency of contract processing; ensure contracts are reviewed, approved and executed in accordance with internal policies and in a timely manner, and manage the expectations of all interested parties
  • Review, establish and simplify contract processes as appropriate
  • Design, review and implement departmental protocols to (i) drive efficient information sharing among Legal and non-Legal stakeholders, (ii) establish and maintain effective workflows between Legal and non-Legal stakeholders and (iii) codify Legal's departmental standards and policies
  • Assist with the execution of significant ad hoc projects as they arise, including the execution of research and preparation of relevant written/oral deliverables to Legal and other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Assist in ensuring the company conducts its business according to applicable federal, state and local laws
  • Perform such other tasks and duties as may be required or assigned from time to time in the Company’s discretion


About You and What You’ve Done:
  • College degree with excellent academic credentials
  • 1-2 years experience in Legal Operations is ideal, but recent JDs or high-achieving recent college graduates with a focus in statistics or economics will be considered as well
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strict attention to minutia (must “sweat” the details)
  • Experience working with CRM software (ideally Salesforce) and CLM software (ideally Lexion)
  • Experience working with Looker Studio, Tableau or PowerBI
  • Experience working with Excel, SQL, R or SPSS
  • Efficient and business-oriented approach to your work
  • Ability to handle competing deadlines and shifting priorities with minimal supervision
  • Software and technology background is a plus
  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement


The expected salary range for this position is $81,700 - $130,000, with a midpoint of $105,800.


In most cases, we target the midpoint of our salary ranges for new hire compensation. This placement is reflective of full proficiency in a role.
