The eSports Program Instructor II is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and maintaining the eSports lounge and equipment at the Edwards Field House. This position oversees leagues and tournaments, classes, camps, and clinics for all ages in both group and individual settings. Our ideal candidate will be prepared, creative and energized while providing a safe learning environment.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: eSports Program Instructor II

Location: Edwards Field House (Edwards, CO)

Schedule: Part-Time; Year-Round

Work Environment: Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Work schedule is varied but generally requires weekday hours with occasional weekends and holidays. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all the time. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, pushing, pulling, and kneeling to store, set-up, and clean-up equipment and supplies. Job stress may include dealing with crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, exposure to childhood illness, and periods of continuous demand. 


Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Program Instructor II, Facility Supervisor, or Facility Coordinator 

Supervision Exercised:  Responsible for overseeing Program Instructor I, assistants, and volunteers.   


Salary: $20.47 - $25.59/hour DOE; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

General Statement of Duties: Plans and instructs programs, classes, and activities. Develops lesson plans, prepares materials, instructs classes, and monitors participants.


Examples of Duties:

  • Instructs classes, programs, and activities. Plans, organizes, and implements curriculum based upon overall program objectives and guidelines. 
  • Oversees the safety, comfort, and progress of participants. 
  • Develops rapport with participants and responds to questions or concerns. 
  • Assists in collaboration with staff to develop, plan, and schedule classes. 
  • Communicates with staff regarding facility, equipment, and supply needs. 
  • Set up, take down, and clean-up after classes as necessary. 
  • Addresses program specific risk management/safety issues. 
  • Facilitates inclusion of special needs participants in programs.
  • Manages accidents and incidents according to procedures. 
  • Acts as a mandatory reporter and complies with mandatory reporting guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Requirements


COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: Theory, principle, and practices for specialized area; curriculum and effective teaching methods for area of assignment.


Skills and abilities: Demonstrate competency in specialized area; communicate effectively with a diverse groups of people; ability to prepare and present lessons effectively to a variety of audiences including ages, abilities and levels; comfortable handling disruptions, conflicts, responding to problems and addressing customer service concerns, ability to handle emergency situations as they arise; physically perform the duties; work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and customers.


Requirements:

Education and experience

  • Must be 16 years of age or older AND 
  • One year of teaching experience in specialized area; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience and training
  • Supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Must have a basic knowledge of console and computer use (preferred)
  • Prior experience in video game tournaments (preferred)
  • Knowledge in any/all games offered at the Lounge including but not limited to – Minecraft, Fortnite, Rocket League, FIFA/Madden, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and more. Curiosity to learn about other games strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
